Where
A service-area business: the work happens at the house, on the Southern California coast from Malibu to La Jolla. No office is open to the public. Service area: Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Long Beach, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, San Clemente, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, La Jolla.
What
- Finds the source of water in a house before anything is demolished: thermal imaging, moisture mapping, field spray testing (ASTM E1105, AAMA 501.2), electronic leak detection (ASTM D7877), flood testing (ASTM D5957).
- Repairs roof and flashing leaks, window and sliding door leaks, deck and balcony leaks, and stucco and exterior wall leaks.
- Controls moisture in slab foundations, and installs drainage, French drains and sump pumps.
- Removes mold and repairs the leak that caused it.
- Emergency water extraction and dry-out, with the damage recorded before it dries.
- Cause-of-loss reports for insurers, attorneys and building officials.
- Flood cleanup and flood restoration on the coast.
Does not do: pipe leaks under a slab (a plumber's repair; L3 finds the source and brings in the right trade); seawall, revetment or bulkhead design and construction (a coastal engineer's design and an armoring contractor's build; L3 coordinates with both); beach sand placement and street and storm-drain flooding (the city's).
Background
The practice began as Hydrotech Construction in 1999 (CSLB #766196, issued July 1999, Costa Mesa; licence now cancelled). Hydrotech's work included Construction Defect – Expert Witness assignments. The same founder and practice continue as L3 Energy Construction. Hydrotech lineage →
